Location of the University of Southern Queensland
The 75,6 hectare-sized main campus of the University of Southern Queensland is located 10 minutes from Toowoomba's city center. Is is well-equipped with different facilities, such as a T.V studio, a modern library, a performing and visual arts theater, a concert hall, science and engineering laboratories, modern lecture halls, computer rooms with 24-hour access, sport and recreation centers, tennis and basketball courts, five sport complexes, and Australia's largest Japanese designer garden. In addition there are book stores, a post office, doctors, fitness centers, a travel agency, hair stylist, banks, child day-care centers, and many restaurants. The university's other campuses lie in Hervey Bay and Springfield.

City Profile Toowoomba
Toowoomba has already twice been elected Australia´s most livable city. It has almost 115.000 inhabitants and lies on the Great Diving Range in southeast Queensland, 800 meters above sea level. It is particularly well known for its architecture and open spaces from where you can overlook Lockyear Valley. Brisbane is only 132 kilometers away, and the beaches of the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast are only a two hours´ drive away. Toowoomba is the second largest inland city of the continent after the capital Canberra. The climate is very pleasant and has four distinct seasons. Average temperatures are 27 °C in summer and 15 °C in winter. In this weather, you can perfectly well enjoy one of the 150 public parks. Locals often refer to the city as “Garden City” since it shows a lot of green. Therefore, the Carnival of Flowers is celebrated annually. Other festivals are the Royal Toowoomba Show, the Australian Gospel Music Festival, the Farm Fest and more. You can also visit the Cobb & Co Museum or the Empire Theatre which is considered as one of the country´s best theatres for performing arts.

 Semester

Description:

The "Study Abroad" semester program at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) enables international students to have up to two "free" selection semesters to enroll into any regular Bachelors and Masters university credit course.

The desired courses are to be listed in the initial application, and need to be courses offered at USQ. Normally, the student receives, along with the acceptance notice, a confirmation of the desired courses.

Requirements:

Applicants to USQ's semester program are required to have completed high school, or equivalent, and have satisfactory English language knowledge.

This can be demonstrated through a standardized TOEFL or an IELTS examination. Another option is taking the
DAAD Language Test.

Campus apartments

Toowoomba Campus:
Accommodation in Toowoomba is located on different college campuses at USQ. Comfortable single-rooms are cleaned weekly, and for the most part, the rooms have their own bathrooms or share them with one other room, as in McGregor and Concannon College. At Steele Rudd College there are shared bathrooms for 10 or 15 quarters. The rooms are all fully-furnished and are equipped with internet access.

A$ 191 to A$ 215 per week, including a meal plan

Springfield Campus:
The Education City Apartments in Springfield are fully-furnished and are equipped with internet access. All of the apartments are modernly decorated and have a small kitchen with a refrigerator, microwave, and a washing machine.

Toowoomba:
For those who wish to not live directly on campus, and have a more independent life, have many off-campus options. Single rooms, or apartments for more students are available. The rooms are all furnished and have internet access as well as a telephone connection. The University can be reached by foot. In contrast to the dormitories on campus, meal plans are not offered.

Prices:
A$ 60 to A$ 135 per week for accomodation at the Student Villages, Toowoomba Uni Accommodation, Crest Realty or Donna Court Apartments.

Springfield & Wide Bay Campus:
Private accomodation in Springfield must be organized on one's own. An early visit should be scheduled to secure living quarters.

Toowoomba & Wide Bay Campus:
Whoever is interested in integrating into Australian lifestyle and intensifying their English understanding and speaking capability is strongly recomended the Australian host-family option.

Fully-furnished single-rooms are available here with internet and telephone access. "Homestay" accomodation is located near the university and reached easily by foot or bus.

Whoever is interested in the Homestay program, must familiarize him/herself with fundamental Australian house-hold living rules.
