The University of Tasmania is made up of three campuses located relatively far away from each other: Sandy Bay in Hobart, with a 100-hectar campus, Newnham Campus in Launceston, where also the Australian Maritime College is located, with a 50-hectare campus, and Cradle Coast Campus in Burnie. All three campuses have many characteristics that make life easier for students. In Hobart, there are four cafes, a bistro, kiosk, restaurants and bars, a Commonwealth Bank, a student center for advice, travel agency, health center, a book store, post office, and much more. In Launceston students will find a bar, restaurant, cafe, the Commonwealth Bank, a hair stylist, bookstore, and a supermarket. In Addition to the Newnham Campus the Australian Maritime College has another location at the Beauty Point Campus, about 50 km north of Launceston, near the mouth of the Tamar River

City Profile Hobart
Hobart is Tasmania´s capital and at the same time the most southern and smallest capital of Australia. Thus it has a very special atmosphere. The city comprises a harbour, beautiful old buildings, some parks and suburbs. The 218.000 inhabitants at Mount Wellington make up a lively arts and crafts scene and are historically very interested. For example, there is the open-air museum “Tudor Court”, an exemplary reproduction of an English village from the late Gothic era, or the “Tasmanian Museum & Art Gallery” with the city´s oldest building and an emphasis on aborigine and settler history. But Hobart has other things to offer as well such as the Sydney-Hobart-Regatta which takes place in December and is known worldwide or the market every Saturday on Salamanca Place. The climate is always temperate and mild with four distinct seasons. In case the weather is good, you should go up Mount Wellington and enjoy the view.
