The Auckland University of Technology is the fastest-growing University in New Zealand and offers possibilities in modern careers in current economy, through a wide variety of degrees in many different courses of study, such as "Maori Development" oder "Maori Media," that deal with Aborigines. The different cultural perspectives that international students bring to the university will especially be very valued. For them, above all, is the International Student Support Team available to provide assistance in many different areas dealing from academic problems to insurance affairs. The team also organizes extracurricular activities, workshops and seminars, involves itself in the orientation week, and begins to familiarize the student with Maori culture. These services are of no cost to the student and are absolutely confidential. International students also have the possibility to join the International Student Association (AISA) that meets regularly and organizes trips and events for everyone. All together, the facilities provide for a dynamic basis for research in Industry, Economy, Art and Humanities, Health and Environmental Science, Design and Creative Technologies.

The Auckland University of Technology has two campuses. The main campus, Wellesley Campus, is located directly in the center of Auckland, and is easy to locate. The second campus, Akoranga is ten kilometers away on the northern outskirt of the city, but one arrives easily from one campus to the other: Every 20 minutes there is a shuttle bus available for transport. At both locations students find everything that they need, such as: computer rooms, cafes and restaurants, Fitness centers, Libraries, and much more. The university has additionally two outer facilities: the AUT Technology Park in Auckland's Industrial area in Penrose, and the School of Education in Manukau City.

City Profile Auckland
Auckland City has about 420.000 inhabitants and is the country´s biggest city. It lies in the Northern part of New Zealand and belongs to the Auckland region. Many islands in the Hauraki Gulf belong to Auckland such as Waiheke Island and Great Barrier Island. The airport lies 121 kilometers southwest of the city centre, and most of the unique destinations and attractions are not far away from downtown as well. You can easily reach your destination by car, train, bus or ferry, but you can just as well book a guided sightseeing tour. The climate is temperate with warm summers and temperatures around 24 °C and slightly cooler winters with 16 °C; there are no extreme temperatures. Auckland is also called the “City of Sails” and is considered as one of the world´s best Lifestyle-Cities since the cosmopolitan city centre is complemented by the surrounding nature. You can do some shopping, enjoy the nightlife, have dinner in a restaurant or visit one of the many attractions. Further events are being held regularly such as the Propecia Rally New Zealand, the Ellerslie Flowers Show or the Air New Zealand Fashion Week. Culturally, there are many offerings as well: the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki, the Auckland Museum in a landmark building which offers a great view of the Waitemata Harbor and a lot more.
