Lincoln University, Christchurch (New Zealand)
Description of the Lincoln University
Lincoln University is relatively small, which is an advantage for students: the lecturers have an 'open door policy'. That means they are always on hand to discuss projects and essays or clarify a lecture topic. The size of the University makes it very easy to make friends. With more than 500 study course options, Lincoln is at the forefront of developing programs that meet the needs of industry and offer clear career pathways. More than one third of all students are international which makes the university diverse and rich with culture. The student learning center (SLC) offers students support, and provides students with many options, such as the Internet program Learn@Lincoln, where they can access important study documents. Extracurricular activities are a definite "plus" at the university, as students have the option to be involved in different social, cultural, and political projects, as well as sport groups and clubs. The Masters Golf College offers discounted golf memberships for golf players.

City Profile Christchurch
Christchurch has more than 350.000 inhabitants and is also known as New Zealand´s “Garden City” since it includes many gardens and parks such as the 161 hectare Hagley Park in the inner city. The Canterbury region offers very diverse and beautiful landscapes, from the ocean to grasslands to cliffy mountains. Temperature s in Christchurch average 12,1 °C with summers being conveniently warm and winters being rather cold; but there is scarcely any snowfall. The city´s center is constituted by the Christchurch Cathedral with a metal top. Earlier, it was made of stone until an earthquake destroyed it. The inner city is situated around the cathedral and offers many opportunities for shopping as well as a broad range of different restaurants. Another attraction is the restored tram service which offers downtown tours. Located in the old university quarter lies the “Arts Centre” with cultural offerings such as cinemas or arts and crafts markets, and the botanical garden is near as well. Here you can take a boat trip around the park on Avon River. As you see, there is a lot to discover in Christchurch – whether culture or nightlife, there is something for everyone.
