City Profile Boston, MA
Boston is with 590 000 inhabitants the biggest city in New England and the capital of Massachusetts on the East Coast of the USA. The climate is mild with average temperatures of maximal 33 °C in summer and -9 °C in winter, and the city has some natural harbors which could be designed because of Massachusetts Bay´s strong dissection. Regarding the atmosphere, this area is dominated by culture and tradition of its mother country England, much more than the rest of the USA; the Victorian buildings in Boston appear “very British”. There are many cultural and historic places worth seeing, such as the “Freedom Trail”: a red line on the sidewalk which leads people on a track of four kilometers to 16 important places of the American Independence, starting from the municipal park “Boston Common” to the end in Charlestown. The Museum of Fine Arts is one of the most important museums in New England, and the Boston Athenæum is one of Massachusetts´ oldest cultural facilities with a library and several art collections. The Symphony Hall and its Boston Symphony Orchestra are well-known in the whole world. But apart from culture, there are many other ways to spend some spare time, for example shopping, sports or just going for a walk. Since it is one of the oldest and wealthiest cities in the USA, Boston has many beautiful places to offer. Nightlife is very busy as well, especially in the bars on Newbury Street or the nightclubs on Lansdowne Street.
