Description of the San José State University

More Photos
A great advantage of San José State University is the location. The later contact to the working world is established easier, as the university is situated in a great location, allowing students to establish professional relationships, receive guest lecturers, and participate in excursions. Thanks to the proximity of Silicon Valley, students receiving education in the High-tech branch can have a head-start, and quicker entrance into their fields. The university, however, offers many other different courses of study. One of the most remarkable and extraordinary characteristics of San José State University is the fact that the library is one of the first in the country. Great value is placed on Sports, and there are different student clubs and associations that students can participate in.

Location of the San José State University
San José State University's mail campus lies directly in the middle of San Jose. The university is conveniently located on 154 acres in downtown San José midway between San Francisco and the Monterey/Carmel area at the sunny southern end of San Francisco Bay. SJSU is also easily accessible from area freeways. On its 62 hectares, the university is composed of 50 buildings, and because most of the students reside directly on campus, the lively student dominion comes together to form an exciting, pleasant, and intelligent atmosphere. In addition, the South campus, 25 hectares in size, lies only a couple of miles away from main campus, and holds the Spartan Stadium, near the Spartan Village. On the Airport campus one can study General and commercial Flight-management, laid out at learning facilities at the San José International Airport.

City Profile San José
San José in California is with about 900.000 inhabitants one of the ten largest cities in the United States and is situated within the informal borders of “Silicon Valley”. San Francisco lies only 50 kilometers farther and can easily be reached by train. Another interesting destination for a trip is Lake Tahoe which can be reached within three hours, and especially those who like water sports will love this region. San Francisco Bay is nearer and lies only 15 kilometers away from San José. But you do not have to leave the city to spend your spare time; there are a lot of things to do in San José. You can visit numerous museums and cultural centers such as the Tech Museum of Innovation or the San José Museum of Art. Those who rather want to spend some time outside can take a trip to the Municipal Rose Garden or the Japantown quarter. Furthermore, there are many bars and clubs for going out.
