University of California Riverside's campus is 420 hectares in size, and lies near the Box Spring Mountains in South California. It has a resemblance to a park and is located 50 miles East of Los Angeles. Due to its great location, the university enjoys the culture and free-time activities offered in South California. Within one hour's drive, one can see the landscape's versatility and transformation: Desert, Mountains, and Ocean. On the campus itself one will find modernly-equipped and furnished work and lecture rooms, visual and performing art studios, libraries possessing over 2 million volumes. The clock tower and the botanical gardens are a couple of the university's numerous attractive embellishments. Additionally, the university's recreation center offers students the option to involve themselves in extracurricular activities. It is set up with a fitness center, multi-purpose rooms for aerobics, sport halls for volleyball, squash, and basketball. In addition, the university has another Satelite campus in Palm Desert.

Riverside lies in Riverside County, California. The city has about 305,000 inhabitants, and the climate is Mediterranean, with an average monthly temperature of 35 °C in the summer and 19 °C in the winter. There are many different festivals, such as the Dickensī Festival and The Festival of Lights. In addition, people can visit more than 20 different museums and galleries, for example the Riverside Metropolitan Museum or the Riverside Art Museum. The Castle Amusement Park, the Fox Theater, or the Mission Inn, which holds Riverside County's history are interesting places that can also be visited. Nearby, there are large three hills: Box Springs Mountain, Evans Hill, and Tecolote Hill. Lake Matthews is located south of the city. There are excellent hiking, biking, and winter skiing possibilities.  Semester

Description: The Semester program at the UC Riverside, through the "Design-Your-Own Program" (DYO), offers students up to three trimesters (Quarters)where they can choose their own courses from the university's Bachelor and Master programs.
The university professors have the final decision as to the student's participation. They will consider the classroom space and the individual student's education background.
In charge of the Semester program at the UC Riverside is the UCR Extension. This institution has the most experience with international student affairs. They also possess all the information regarding language courses.

US$ 2,750 for the UC Riverside semester program
The tuition includes 12 units, where each course is about four to five units. Up to three courses can be taken during the Summer Session.
There is also the possibility to have additional courses, over the regular 12 included units. These courses must be paid separately.  Tuition and Fees
Requirements: Applicants to the semester program at the UC Riverside are required to have completed high school or equivalent, and possess good English skills.
This can be demonstrated by a TOEFL examination.
Students who have not taken the TOEFL examination, are required to take a placement test at the UC Riverside Extension before the semester begins. This will determine at which level the student can begin. Depending on the test score, it will decide how many English courses will be taken in combination with regular university courses.  The university offers three student dormitories, in which one could rent out a room in a double, or three-room apartment, equipped with Internet access. Living rooms and bathrooms are shared. Students have the option to have a meal plan. That means that the student does not have to cook, or go grocery shopping.

They have swimming pools, picnic and grilling areas, as well as learning rooms and computer rooms at their disposal. Internet access is also available.

1. A furnished, one-room suite, a room with bathroom, two rooms with bathroom, or an unfurnished loft.
2. A furnished one-bedroom apartment with bathroom, or two rooms with two bathrooms.
3. Furnished studios with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, three rooms and three bathrooms, or five rooms and five bathrooms.
